This little run down servo in the middle of no here was a little surprising! as I walked in to pay for the diesel there was not an inch on the walls that didn't have a pic, business card or a small bit of writing in texta.

COFFEE BREAK (kids are being so good today with the traveling)

Banka Banka Outstation, NT
Population - How ever many they have turned up!
$20 per night (kids stayed free)
100km

Kids received an ice Block on arrival... Now we have our WikiCamps maps out and we have selected the stop over for tonight.... But we pull up and there are vans everywhere (like 30) we can't find a spot to fit us, So we decide to keep going and see what the next one is like.  After another 36km's we come to the next camping spot that was called Banka Banka Outstation! (we looked at each other and thought this will have to do) Once we pulled up (5.30pm) in the driveway of this little house, a lady came out to meet and greet. For a $20 unpowered site, with water, we were escorted by BOB to our site (there would have been 50 other Caravans) as we get unpacked the music started to play and all these people start to wondering towards it. There was an elderly gentleman playing his Guitar, a massive fire bucket with marshmallows for the kids and Bob starting telling jokes in-between old mate singing, then asking if anyone had a good joke or a poem. Marnie Jane got up and re-sighted one of her Speech and drama Poems. Very proud moment.

Day Thirteen - Adam and I get up really early (6.30am) and put the kids in the car straight out of bed, We did such a massive day yesterday that we wanted to spend most of the day doing something fun with the kids.

We only had like 217km to go and we would be sitting in the Mataranka Springs.

Now Mataranka has blown my mind! What an amazing place, Great friendly staff, wonderful views. If you've never been to this slice of paradise then I strongly recommended that you make time to visit...

This place even has a bar, meals, and entertainment. Ellen Amy singing away in the background while we chow down our dinner (it was so good, cause I didn't have to cook) then we had the Whip cracker do a 2 hour show (Nathan 'Whippy' Griggs) This guy was funny and had very defined shoulders!!

Night life...
A day trip to Katherine (we needed supplies and fuel) its about an hours drive from Mataranka to Katherine. Didn't really want to stay in Katherine for a night so this is why we did a day trip and used Mataranka as a base. If you need supplies for the Caravan they have two really good caravaning, camping shops.

We used this afternoon to go and explore Bitter Springs is just down the road, amazing! Make sure you take a swimming noodle, the kids loved these two warm swimming holes.
Then back to Mataranka for a nice dinner, showers then bed.
