Day Thirty-one - Cairns
Ellis Beach Oceanfront Bungalows - 30 minutes up from Cairns
$66 per night - 4 nights
Fuel - $67.00
97km

I get up this morning with a huge smile on my face... Now I'm not much of a swimmer but I LOVE the beach, the sound, the smell and most importantly the way it makes me feel...

When we planned this trip I really wanted to do the coast last and enjoy this leg and we head home (back to normality) Two nights ago I did ring ahead and we managed to get a beachside caravan park for a few nights. Ellis Beach Oceanfront Bungalows. O...M...G... we are about 4 caravans from the beach! Can you believe it, I'm so excited that we have finally reached to coast. A little tight but it will do (LOL) We spend that afternoon walking along the beach. The kiddies have a swim, even though it was a little cool.

Day Thirty-two - Sleep on the beach I said... Stay as close as I can... I want to hear the ocean crashing at night... Now, this was my idea, but I don't think I got more than a few hours sleep last night... (Bloody waves) mums going to be tired today!! Anyway, we head for a drive into Cairns to see whats about and what adventures we want to book. we really want to go out the Reef for snorkel, The Skyrail looks good and I NEED fresh fish and chips!

Day Thirty-three -
The Skyrail -  $237.00 - for a family of 5
Packed lunch and snacks
Butterfly house - $60.00

You can book this online or rock up and book when you're ready to jump on. Adam and I have done a Skyrail before in New Zealand, but nothing compares to this one. It went for about 2.5 hours (a bit over an hour each way) with time to explore the two rainforests along the way. When you get to the end there is a great little town called Kuranda, it has food, great little speciality shops/markets, parks, butterfly house and ICE CREAM... The girls are having a great time checking out all the amazing butterflies, shopping for dresses and Emmett for some new shirts. When we get back to Cairns were buggered, we spend about three hours walking around Kuranda.

Day Thirty-four -
Cape Tribulation - $30 Vehicle Ferry
Packed lunch and snacks
Ice Cream - $30.00
Fuel - $107.30
Dinner - $120.00 at the pub up the road.

Today is a driving day trip to Cape Tribulation. Now to get over to this beautiful rainforest you have to catch a Vehicle Ferry over and back. which is great cause we could drive around in our own time checking out all the little houses that offer different sorts of ice creams, gift shops, caravan parks etc. The kids weren't really into this (they think it was boring) but it was an amazing place to see. I'm not feeling like homemade food tonight, so we head up to the pub for a quick dinner and a nice cold beer.

Day Thirty-five -
Green Island - $291 - for a family of 5
Packed lunch and snacks

This is something that we have been very excited to do. A cool 45-minute boat ride out to Green Island. Snorkelling gear was included in the tour - So we get out to the island and it's a resort and has its own reef. We set up our towels and get our gear ready to head out (I'm not too sure of Emmett or Matilda) but they both smash it and god we had a great time. Best day to date for me, I'm sure the rest of the clan had a good time too. It was amazing swimming around with the kids looking at the coral, fish and doing it
together. We end today with another swim in the Water lagoon in town.

SO note to self - Don't stay right on the beach ever again... one the third night I wore headphones to bed so that I could get a decent nights sleep (how bad is that) Adam thought it was funny...

Tomorrow we have a massive day, we really want to get to Bundaberg in two days, but lets see how we go.

Accommodation - $264.00
Fuel - $174.30
356km - whilst in Cairns
